GrowNYC is a non-profit organization that provides our native annual and perennial plants and flowers.  They work to improve New York City's environment through programs such as urban agriculture, education, and community engagement. "We build and rejuvenate community gardens and urban farms in all 5 boroughs, and support even more gardens through volunteer days, technical assistance, green infrastructure projects, and more." 

Wave Hill Public Garden: The Inwood Butterfly Sanctuary participated in the Bees, Butterflies and Blooms weekend with an “Ask an Expert” outreach table and immersive monarch butterfly enclosure. It's a 28-acre public garden and cultural center in the Bronx that offers stunning views of the Hudson River and features beautiful gardens, walking trails, and art exhibitions.

Guerilla Gardening: a grassroots community initiative to restore monarch butterfly habitat and create pollinator pathways in marginal spaces by planting milkweed and other native plants. Co-founded by Inwood Butterfly Sanctuary to expand habitat restoration to marginal spaces.

Sunflowers for Peace: A project to create pollinator pathways growing sunflowers corridors for pollinators like bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds in urban areas.

EarthDay 2024 programming: A series of events and activities planned for Earth Day 2024 to promote environmental awareness and action, consisting ofbpark clean-ups involving Friends of Inwood Hill Park, New York Restoration Project outreach crafts table, Church of Latter Day Saints children's butterfly mask coloring RING Garden, Trinity Church Sunflowers for Peace seed germination with GuerrillaGardening, Dos Amigos School seed ball initiatives, engaging thousands of friends and neighbors, mostly families and children. 

Inwood Hill Park Nature Center: 

We are in proposal phase of a partnership with the NYC Parks Urban Rangers to assist in setting up a monarch waystation through propagation of common milkweed and pollinator flowers, monarch butterfly waystations to promote environmental education and conservation as a trial run for funding and more well defined programs next year. 

At Inwood Butterfly Sanctuary, our mission is to create a sustainable future for all. We believe that everyone can make an impact and that small actions can lead to big changes. Through our initiatives and advocacy, we aim to raise awareness about the importance of environmental sustainability and empower individuals and communities to take action. To do so requires ongoing support from our friends, community and organizational sponsors.
